THE INSIDE STORY: HIDEit Skateboard Mounts

WHY DID WE MAKEit?
For the love of skateboarding, that’s why.
The first HIDEit Skateboard Mount, the HIDEit Vertical Skateboard Mount, was launched in 2019, bringing back some awesome memories for our team. Chuck, Co-Founder and COO of HIDEit, is a longtime cruiser. As a kid, his first real skateboard was an Eric Nash Pro deck with Tracker Trucks and Slime Ball Wheels.
“I loved that skateboard. It was so cool… and got stolen out of my garage within two months. Growing up in Southern California, it was easy to get into skateboarding. I used to watch the Bones Brigade. And while I don’t have a favorite skater, I admire Tony Hawk. He’s an old guy still doing cool sh*t," said Chuck.
We sold our last VSkate Mount in October 2022 and discontinued it due to manufacturing costs. But two years later, in 2024, we brought it back with a new and improved design!
"We brought it back because, honestly, we found lower-cost methods. Plus, we wanted to redesign it to add more strength."
HOW DID WE MAKEit?
Back in 2019, we designed the Vertical Skateboard Wall Mount to be simple, sleek, and affordable for all complete skateboards. Those same features are still here in the 2024 version, but we’ve made it even better.
We started our design process by testing plastic molds of skateboard trucks and tested different prototypes until we got it right. For the 2024 update, we moved the screw holes right behind the hook, making the mount stronger. The wall now provides extra support, so it holds more weight.
The Vertical Skateboard wall mount (VSkate) is back—stronger, smarter, and still as clean as ever.
But we didn’t stop there. While the VSkate Mount was a great storage solution, customers wanted a mount that showed off their custom decks. Enter the HIDEit Display Skate Mount—our next-gen vertical skateboard deck wall mount with the ability to DISPLAY the deck while storing the board!
We developed a new two-piece design using a steel bar and backplate. The steel bar provides strength to support the skateboard’s weight, while laying flat against the wall when not in use. Its U-shape securely holds any board, even curved ones, and the rubber coating prevents scratches.
After the HIDEit DSkate Mount came the HIDEit Deck Mount, for those who want to display just their non-complete decks. Turn your skate deck into wall art!
The HIDEit Deck Mount can also be mounted horizontally, so you can show off your boards based on the deck art.
"First of all customers asked for it. Then I saw a Nike store in Chicago years ago, where they had decks on the wall, just using blocks of wood. I’m not your traditional skater—I don’t do tricks—but I love long boarding and the art behind the decks. I want to see the art,” Chuck added.
